China and Russia’s Use of ‘Sex Spies’ to Target U.S. Secrets

A former CIA operative has revealed that China and Russia are sending ‘sex spies’ to the United States as part of efforts to steal technology and state secrets. These tactics involve psychological warfare, according to J. Michael Waller.

Waller described an encounter with a Chinese woman while he was working in Poland. She displayed interest in his activities, leading him to suspect her of being a spy. He reported her to Polish authorities, who deported her soon after.

Waller noted that these spies use the vulnerabilities of loneliness and desire for companionship to their advantage. This method, rooted in history, involves using intimacy as a strategic tool.

The U.S. government has responded by prohibiting employees in China from engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with Chinese citizens. This policy aims to safeguard against potential threats and was introduced by former U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Burns.

Chinese spies reportedly target professionals in critical fields, such as engineering and politics, aiming for long-term emotional bonds. This approach can lead targets to form families with the spies.
