Manhunt and Shelter-in-Place in Lansing, Illinois Following Shooting Report

Police in a Chicago suburb instructed residents to shelter in place on Thursday as they conducted a manhunt in response to a shooting in Lansing, Illinois.

According to FOX 32 Chicago, Lansing police advised people in the 2700 block of 170th Street to remain indoors while officers searched for a suspect who had fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black do-rag, black hoodie, and a white surgical mask, moving south from 170th Street.

Dispatch audio reviewed by Fox News Digital revealed that authorities were responding to reports of an active shooter at a chemical plant located across the street from the Lansing Police Department on 170th Street.

In the audio, a man mentions that a helicopter was deployed and that they were seeking a K9 unit. The man also stated, “The offender shot every foreign subject in the business.”

Lansing police have not yet confirmed details from the dispatch audio, such as the specific nature of the incident or any injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear. Fox News Digital has requested further information from the Lansing Police Department and Nippon Paint.
