Player Injured by Puck During Stanley Cup Final

During Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, a frightening moment occurred when Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb received a puck to the face. He was immediately taken to the hospital. The incident happened when McNabb, positioned in the direct path of an 87 mph shot, was hit by a slap shot from Carolina Hurricanes’ Nikolaj Ehlers.

The game was held in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the Lenovo Center. McNabb dropped his stick and held his nose as he left the ice and headed down the tunnel. Shortly after, the ESPN broadcast announced that McNabb had gone to a local hospital.

Prior to this, McNabb had made headlines with a three-assist performance in Game 1. He is also noted as one of three original players of the Golden Knights, having been with the team since its inception and is now in the Stanley Cup Final for the third time.

“You lose a guy like Nabber who logs heavy minutes, such a good teammate, plays the game so hard, it’s tough,” team captain Mark Stone commented on McNabb’s absence. “They battled as hard as they could.”

Fellow defenseman Noah Hanifin remarked on the challenging situation, saying, “Any time you see that happen to a teammate, especially to a guy like Nabber who is a huge part of this team, a leader, it’s tough. It’s hard to see that happen to any guy on the ice. We’re just hoping for the best for him.”

Head coach John Tortorella had no update on McNabb’s condition after the game.

Despite leading 2-0 in the third period, the Golden Knights conceded their advantage. Carolina’s Seth Jarvis equalized the score just before the end of regular time, leading to an overtime victory and tying the series.
