Henry Ruggs III Denied Parole After Fatal Crash

The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners denied the parole request of Henry Ruggs III, a former NFL player involved in a fatal crash in 2021. Despite claims of personal improvement and remorse, Ruggs will remain incarcerated until his mandatory release, set for 2027.

Ruggs, a former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver, was involved in a high-speed car crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman, Tina Tintor, and her dog, Max. Prosecutors reported that Ruggs drove his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph and was legally drunk, with a blood alcohol content of 0.16, twice the legal limit.

On the night of November 2, 2021, Ruggs visited Topgolf, a sports venue in Las Vegas, before the accident occurred. He pleaded guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in May 2023. By August 2023, he was sentenced to serve a three-to-10-year prison term.

While in prison, Ruggs completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama and took part in various work and trustee programs. These included working at the Nevada governor’s mansion under a state inmate work program. Nevertheless, his efforts failed to sway the parole board.

The Associated Press indicated that Ruggs will have another opportunity to appear before the parole board three months before his August 24, 2027, mandatory parole release date, as confirmed by Kathi Baker, executive director of the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners.
