The AI-Driven Film ‘Dreams of Violets’ Premieres at Tribeca

The docudrama “Dreams of Violets” recently debuted at the Tribeca Festival, showcasing a shift in Hollywood’s reception towards technology. The film is unique as each image was created using generative artificial intelligence. Ash Koosha, the executive producer, reported the film’s production cost to be around $2,000.

Koosha, an Iranian-born filmmaker now residing in London, launched the project after a government crackdown darkened the internet in Tehran. Despite some videos and photos emerging, the full extent of the situation remained unclear. To convey the untold stories, Koosha collaborated with his brother, Pooya, to create this 75-minute film.

“Dreams of Violets” portrays officers firing weapons, street fires, and a child’s reaction to the turmoil. Remarkably, these scenes were crafted within a London apartment, involving no actors, sets, or traditional filming equipment.

“Speed matters here,” Koosha emphasized. He noted the urgency faced by journalists, humanitarian organizations, and artists working to capture the narrative. The film serves as a tribute to a period when conventional reporting faced severe limitations.

The script, penned by Ash Koosha, achieved a cinematic reality without conventional filmmaking tools, highlighting a new frontier in storytelling driven by AI technology.
