A shooting occurred at ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital in Delaware, resulting in one fatality and one injury on Tuesday. The shooter remains unidentified and at large.
The incident took place at 3:30 p.m., as reported by Wilmington Police Chief Wilfredo Campos during a news conference. Police found the victims upon arrival but the shooter was not present. Chief Campos did not disclose information regarding the victims’ identities or the condition of the surviving victim, respecting the families involved.
No suspect details or motives have been released. “We are actively working to identify and locate him,” Chief Campos stated, emphasizing the dedication of the officers to bring the individual responsible to justice.

Mayor John Carney shared that hospital staff were “barricaded in rooms across the hospital as law enforcement cleared each of the floors.” He described the day as a terrible one for the city.
Governor Matt Meyer mentioned that his wife, Dr. Lauren Meyer, was present at the hospital for work when the attack occurred. He praised the hospital employees as “heroes involved in life-saving efforts.”
U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt, representing Delaware, stated that she had been briefed about the situation. “As we wait for further information, I’m praying for our community and grateful for the swift and ongoing law enforcement response,” she expressed.
Wilmington, known as the “corporate capital of America” due to its concentration of corporate legal addresses, is the largest city in Delaware with a population exceeding 73,000.
