Giorgio Armani’s Vision Continues to Thrive
Giorgio Armani’s influence remains strong as demonstrated at a recent fashion show held at his historic Milan headquarters. The event culminated in a relaxed garden dinner attended by celebrities and business associates. Meanwhile, the Giorgio Armani Foundation is seeking a buyer for a 15% stake in the fashion group, as specified in the late designer’s will. Each fashion show underscores the brand’s ongoing strength and innovation.
Real Clothes, For Real People
The latest menswear collection for next summer, combined with womenswear cruise looks, embodied Armani’s iconic relaxed style. Models displayed this nonchalance not only through the loose-fitting garments but also through casual interactions. One model toyed with a ring, another casually slung a jacket over his shoulder.
Silvana Armani, responsible for womenswear design, and menswear designer Leo Dell’Orco introduced unique elements. Jackets featured a longer cut than usual, while trousers were slightly slimmer for balanced proportions. Observers appreciated the realistic vibe, seeing everyday people ready for a night out, not merely runway presentations.
Mediterranean Mood
The collection featured safari jackets and extended blazers layered with shawl-collar vests or complemented with shirts and ties. The color scheme, including sun-bleached greens, cobalt blues, and sandy neutrals, evoked a Mediterranean feel. Fabrics such as linen, cotton, and textured knits enhanced the summer mood.
The womenswear cruise designs, Silvana Armani’s first, included jackets, coats, and dresses that gently draped the body. “I think he would have applauded,” Dell’Orco remarked.
Front-row guests included stars like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Strong, and Lucy Boynton, along with pop singer Conan Gray. After the show, attendees like film director Paolo Sorrentino and former Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri enjoyed a garden gathering.
The Next Chapter
Armani’s will directs the sale of a 15% company stake, covering Emporio Armani, Armani/Casa, and Armani Hotels, within 18 months following his death. For now, Silvana Armani and Dell’Orco, longtime allies in Armani’s creative vision, are maintaining his legacy.
Dell’Orco, also chairman of the foundation and holder of 40% voting rights in the fashion group, addressed rumors about Emporio Armani. Reports about Dario Vitale joining were dismissed as untrue, according to the news agency ANSA.
