The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue special Social Security cards to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. These limited-edition cards will be issued to babies born in the United States from July 2 to December 31.
The new cards resemble the standard blue wallet-sized Social Security cards familiar for decades. However, they include a distinctive feature: the ‘Freedom 250’ logo. This logo is part of a Trump-backed initiative created to celebrate the nation’s semiquincentennial.
Freedom 250 is a public-private initiative launched by the Trump administration last year. It aims to organize events frequently aligned with the administration’s interests. This initiative should not be confused with America250, the nonprofit Congress established in 2016 to coordinate semiquincentennial celebrations.
An example image released by the SSA shows the special card’s design, maintaining its standard appearance while adding the commemorative logo.
