Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican from New York, anticipates losses for far-left candidates in the upcoming midterm elections. He believes that American voters will reject what he calls the “politics of envy.” During an appearance on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Lawler echoed former President Donald Trump’s concerns about the rise of far-left ideology in the U.S.
Lawler stated, “For some, the politics of envy and jealousy are rising. But I fundamentally believe in the goodness of America and the American people. And they will reject this soundly in November.” Lawler’s comments align with those made by Trump during his recent speech at Mount Rushmore.
“As we approach this magnificent anniversary, we see our American identity under a renewed attack. A generation after we fought and won the Cold War against the menace of communism, there is now a resurgence of the communist menace in our land,” Trump warned during his address.
Trump declared communism to be the “greatest threat” to the nation, emphasizing that after 250 years, the American dream would continue. He insisted, “After 250 years, American freedom still rings. The American dream still lives. And the American flag still flies more proudly than ever before.”
Lawler pointed out that Democratic socialist candidates have achieved several primary victories nationwide, including in New York. He argued that these victories, along with anti-American sentiments, undermine the vision of the Founding Fathers as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
House Speaker Mike Johnson issued a similar warning, expressing concern over the rise of far-left candidates. He stated, “The Marxists have nominated some of the most radical candidates to ever run for office, and they’re running for Congress.” Johnson emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that “communism is now on our own shores.”
Despite the challenges, Lawler maintains hope for the nation. “As we move forward and embark on our next 250 years, this is the greatest country on the face of the Earth. No matter our differences, no matter the politics of the moment, the fact is we should all be grateful for living in the United States of America,” he said.
