Seaplane Crash in East River: All Passengers Rescued
A seaplane with eight people aboard crashed into the East River near Manhattan on Sunday. The incident occurred after a getaway in the Hamptons on the Fourth of July weekend. All passengers, including a teenager and her grandmother, were rescued by the Fire Department.
The aircraft, en route from the Hamptons to Manhattan, suffered a mishap in the last moments of the flight. The 10-seat plane tipped over and partially submerged in the water. Ada Todd, aged 75, and her 16-year-old granddaughter Khloe, were among those rescued. Khloe was able to capture the event on her cellphone.
I wanted her to have an experience, but this experience was very bad. Thank God we’re alive, said Ms. Todd, who had experience flying on seaplanes in the past.
Officials reported that none of the passengers sustained serious injuries, though Ms. Todd noted some discomfort, including a headache and back pain. The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting an investigation of the incident. They stated that a hard landing caused a wing strut to break.
