Seven Injured in Two Chicago Shootings: Mostly Teenagers
Chicago police reported two shootings on the same block in West Garfield Park early Sunday. Seven people were injured, with most victims being teenagers.
The first incident occurred at around 1:25 a.m. on the 3800 block of W. Maypole Ave. A 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest. She is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.
Approximately ten minutes later, a second shooting happened at the same location. Six individuals were shot while standing outside. The victims include two 17-year-old boys, an 18-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, and a 20-year-old man. All are in good condition at Stroger and Mt. Sinai hospitals.
In a separate incident, a 33-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds in the 4300 block of W. Van Buren St., about a mile away. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and was ultimately pronounced dead.
Area Four Detectives are actively investigating these shootings.
