A recent survey reveals a significant rise in the use of artificial intelligence among nurses in the United States. Conducted with over 2,200 nurses, the survey highlights that approximately 44 percent of them now use AI in their work. This marks a notable increase from just 15 percent who reported using AI last year.
Despite the growing adoption of AI technology, over 80 percent of surveyed nurses express concerns about its accuracy. They believe that AI predictions require verification before being fully trusted. These findings suggest that while AI tools are becoming more common in healthcare settings, nurses remain cautious about relying on them without additional checks.
A practical example of AI in nursing can be seen at Mount Sinai hospital, where Bojana Milekic and colleagues have started using AI programs to identify patients at higher risk. This application signifies the potential for AI to aid in patient care, yet underscores the need for validation to ensure reliability and safety.
