Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, previously a strong supporter of President Donald Trump, compared the Trump family’s financial success to the activities of Hunter Biden. Speaking on The View, Greene described the financial benefits accruing to the Trump family since the president’s return to office in January 2025 as “corruption,” echoing her previous criticisms of the Biden family.
Greene’s comments followed scrutiny over Trump’s business interests after renewed financial disclosures. According to reports from The New York Times, Trump’s income related to his family’s cryptocurrency enterprises surpassed $1 billion, alongside another billion from other business activities. This marks a significant increase from the prior year’s reported income.
Allegations by House Republicans suggested Biden family members and associates received over $10 million from foreign entities, hinting at a supposed “influence-peddling” scheme linked to former President Joe Biden’s political tenure. Meetings, relationships, and transactions were identified; however, investigators did not show that Biden directly received the foreign payouts or altered U.S. policy due to his family’s business activities.
The $2.2 billion disclosure from Trump sharply contrasts the $10 million alleged by Republicans to be received by the Biden family. Davis Ingle, White House spokesperson, criticized Greene, calling her attempts to stay relevant “pathetic” and claiming “Trump Derangement Syndrome” affected her judgment.
Greene’s Views on Trump’s Earnings
During her appearance on The View, Greene responded about Trump’s financial gains: “Oh, he’s making money, all right.” She emphasized her previous criticisms of Hunter Biden’s corruption claims but expressed surprise at Trump’s earnings. Greene stated, “Even Fox News had something to say about it.”
Greene acknowledged Hunter Biden’s significant earnings during his father’s presidency but argued it was “wrong” for the Trumps to accumulate wealth, highlighting the larger amount compared to their past earnings.
Greene, once an ardent Trump supporter, became dissatisfied over issues like the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and foreign policy. After resigning from Congress midway through her third term, Greene has criticized Trump, claiming he abandoned the “America First” agenda.
Trump’s Financial Success
A comprehensive 927-page report by the Office of Government Ethics indicated Trump’s vast earnings from stock trades, real estate, and branded product royalties. Around $1.4 billion related to Trump’s cryptocurrency ventures, including World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and the $TRUMP meme coin.
The administration dismissed conflicts, with Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly stating, “Neither the President nor his family has engaged—or will ever engage—in conflicts.” Trump abilities in driving the U.S. to crypto prominence were highlighted.
Following disclosure details, Megyn Kelly criticized the financial benefits Trump’s sons gained, comparing it to Hunter Biden’s profits. Hunter Biden criticized the Trumps, drawing parallels to historical monarchy figures in a social media post.
Findings in the Hunter Biden Inquiry
The House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry unearthed Biden family’s alleged foreign influence profiting, claiming $10 million from China, Ukraine, and Romania. The described “influence-peddling” used Biden’s political identity but lacked substantive evidence of impeachable actions. The House decided against impeachment proceedings.
Inquiries reached out to Oversight Committee’s Chair, James Comer, for commentary related to the investigation.
Other Cases of Alleged Political Profiting
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trading activity invites scrutiny, as public records highlight significant trades far beyond public access. Since 2014, Pelosi’s $217 million in overall trade volume notably includes technology sector gains, including Apple and Nvidia.
Pelosi critics argue the potential access to privileged information influences trades, while Pelosi stated she refrains from directing trading actions.
Former Senator Robert Menendez faced legal issues, sentenced to 11 years imprisonment related to bribery benefiting foreign nations Egypt and Qatar.
