Stefon Diggs Confident in His Abilities as Top WR2 Prospect

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is no longer the standout All-Pro player he was from 2018 to 2023. However, he remains confident in his skills, believing he still has much to offer.

At 32, Diggs is currently a free agent, having been released by the Patriots after the Super Bowl. Despite his release, he believes that any team signing him will acquire the best second wide receiver (WR2) in the NFL.

“My opinion, I can compete with anybody,” Diggs declared on his YouTube channel. “But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can’t name a No. 2 better than me.”

Diggs argued for his value by asking fans to compare him to other No. 2 receivers across the league.

He finished last season with 85 catches, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns. This marked the seventh time in his career he surpassed 1,000 yards and 80 catches in a single season.

Jeremy Fowler from ESPN suggested Diggs is attracting attention from several teams. According to Fowler, “At least five teams have been checking in on Diggs nearly two weeks out from camps.” He also noted Diggs achieved his success in New England recovering from an ACL tear and playing around 55% of the snaps. Diggs feels optimistic about performing even better, having trained without injury in the offseason.

Although specific teams showing interest weren’t named by Fowler, potential fits for Diggs might include the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and most significantly, the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders are particularly linked to Diggs, especially after they parted ways with Deebo Samuel. They seek a strong complement to Terry McLaurin. Available options for their WR2 role currently include Dyami Brown, Treylon Burks, and rookie Antonio Williams.
