Homeland Security Secretary Criticizes Networks for Not Airing Trump Speech

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin criticized ABC and NBC for not broadcasting President Donald Trump’s election-security address on their main networks. He accused them of withholding important information as the midterms approach.

How shameful is that? Mullin asked. He questioned why they wouldn’t inform the American public and if they deserved to be called news outlets.

ABC and NBC chose not to air the address on their broadcast networks but provided it via streaming. CNN also did not broadcast it live, while CBS showed part of it before cutting away. Fox News carried the entire speech live. Mullin noted that the networks had previously promoted the security of the 2020 election while ignoring recent declassified information presented by Trump.

Mullin suggested that the networks rejected Trump’s presentation despite his claims of providing factual information. ABC and NBC offered the speech online, without airing it on TV.

During his speech, Trump announced the release of formerly classified intelligence revealing vulnerabilities in voting systems and foreign data access attempts. He urged Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, which involves voter identification and proof-of-citizenship requirements.

Trump also criticized ABC and NBC directly, accusing them of avoiding the topic because of the alleged corruption in the system. He claimed the media was involved in an ongoing fraud to protect radical left interests.

Trump suggested that networks face regulatory actions for not airing his remarks, calling for a potential revocation of their licenses. He emphasized that they use public airwaves at no cost.

The Federal Communications Commission issues licenses to individual broadcast stations, not to national networks.
