World Cup Final: Argentina vs. Spain at MetLife Stadium

The World Cup final is set to feature Argentina led by Lionel Messi, and Spain with Lamine Yamal. Kickoff will take place at 3 p.m. EDT at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Argentina aims for its fourth World Cup title, while Spain seeks its second. A victory for Spain would make them the first nation to hold both men’s and women’s World Cup crowns simultaneously.

This final marks the 104th match of the largest World Cup yet, a 48-team tournament unfolding across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. With more matches than ever, the tournament has already seen 307 goals, surpassing previous World Cups.

Should Argentina and Spain score at least two goals in the final, this World Cup will boast the highest average goal per game since 1956 at 3.6. If they score less, it will still have the highest average since 1970 with 2.97 goals per game.

The final isn’t just about soccer. The closing ceremony will feature Post Malone 90 minutes prior to the match. The first-ever FIFA halftime show includes Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, the PS 22 Chorus with Coldplay, plus Sesame Street and Muppets characters.

President Donald Trump is anticipated to attend, with plans to be part of the trophy presentation at the match’s conclusion.

Argentina will don light blue and white vertically striped jerseys. Spain will wear predominantly red jerseys with navy sleeves. The officiating crew from Slovenia includes referee Slavko Vinčić and assistant referees Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič.
