For the first time, the House of Representatives has successfully passed a bill aimed at making daylight saving time a permanent fixture across the United States. The bill, known as the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025, garnered significant bipartisan support, securing a 308-117 vote.
The legislation now awaits deliberation in the Senate. If approved, it will proceed to the President’s desk. President Trump has publicly announced his intention to sign the bill into law, should it reach him.
This development marks a pivotal shift in national time policy, aiming to eliminate the biannual clock changes that have been a source of debate and contention for many years.
