Incoming Howard University freshman Isabella Williams, 18, diligently applied for numerous local scholarships. She kept this effort secret from her parents, viewing it as a special contribution to her family’s burden. Her mother had to leave the same university years ago due to financial issues, making the pursuit of scholarships a personal mission for Isabella.
She and other students informed the university about upcoming scholarships and financial aid. Despite this, they faced removal from housing and classes.
