Tony Romo Arrested for Suspected Intoxicated Driving

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS football analyst Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee. Officials suspect him of intoxicated driving. Romo, 46, was stopped shortly after 6 p.m. on southbound Interstate 43.

According to Milwaukee County Sheriff’s records, officers pulled him over following poor performance on field sobriety tests. Romo faces one count of allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Authorities released him after booking.

Romo has a court date set for September 21, coinciding with the Monday night of Week 2 of the NFL season. That weekend’s top CBS game features the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the New England Patriots, the reigning AFC champions.

“I appreciate your concern and will address the matter privately with the appropriate authorities,” Romo reportedly said upon release.

The arrest occurred hours after Romo completed an interview with NBC affiliate WTMJ, as reported by the Milwaukee TV station. Romo spent 13 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys before moving to CBS as a broadcaster.

He participates as part of CBS’s leading NFL broadcast team with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson. In 2024, Romo called his third Super Bowl.
