LeBron James has announced he will join the Philadelphia 76ers for his 24th NBA season. The move makes the Sixers a strong contender in the Eastern Conference, adding to a city already home to successful teams like the Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies. These teams recently reached the playoffs in their respective sports.

James, formerly with the Los Angeles Lakers, revealed on social media that his love for basketball inspired his decision to continue playing. At 41, he is set to sign a two-year, $8 million contract with Philadelphia, a significant pay cut for the chance to continue competing.

The addition marks James’ fourth team in his career and follows the acquisition of another star player, Jaylen Brown, from the Boston Celtics. Last season, the 76ers experienced a disappointing sweep by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. With these new additions, they aim for a championship victory.

Despite his age, James maintains productivity on the court. In the previous season with the Lakers, he averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game, earning his 22nd All-Star selection, an NBA record.
