Suspect in Deadly Berlin Attack

Berlin police have confirmed the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old suspect involved in a recent attack at the city’s Pride festival. The individual, identified as Abdul B., reportedly approached police officers with a knife while they attempted to arrest him.

The suspect’s location was tracked down to an allotment garden complex in Berlin’s Spandau district around 6 p.m. local time. Police officers from the city’s special unit responded to the threat by opening fire, resulting in the suspect’s death despite resuscitation efforts by firefighters.

Authorities suspect Abdul B. of driving into a crowd and using a bladed weapon near the Brandenburg Gate, an act that resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to 29 others. Officials have described the suspect as a ‘radicalized’ member of Islamist circles within Berlin.
