Jacoby Brissett Receives Pay Raise from Arizona Cardinals

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett has secured a pay raise from the Arizona Cardinals, fulfilling the salary increase he sought ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Initially set to earn $4.88 million as base salary, Brissett’s new deal boosts his earnings to $15.5 million, with the potential to reach $21 million through incentives.

Unlike typical hold-ins or hold-outs seeking contract extensions, Brissett aimed for a salary adjustment as he anticipated stepping into the starting quarterback role. This move followed the release of Kyler Murray, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Though Brissett’s new salary isn’t on par with top-tier quarterbacks, he expressed satisfaction in reaching a mutually agreeable settlement.

Brissett opted out of the Cardinals’ spring workouts, although he did attend training camp, increasing expectations for a forthcoming agreement with the team. Amid regime changes, Mike LaFleur has taken on the head coach role after Jonathan Gannon’s departure.

Brissett emerged as the Cardinals starter during the 2025 season, stepping in for the injured Murray and leading the team’s offense effectively. With the acquisition of new players including Miami quarterback Carson Beck and Gardner Minshew II, competition is expected at training camp. Brissett stands as the top choice following Murray’s exit and the drafting of Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, who was picked third overall.

During the offseason, Brissett worked out with his teammates, including newcomers like Love, although he hasn’t participated in full practice sessions. The salary increase could initiate his involvement in more competitive drills.

Despite the pay raise, Brissett faces competition for the starting position against Minshew and Beck, but his relationship with top offensive players strengthens his chances. The Cardinals and Carolina Panthers were first to commence training camp as the NFL season kicks off, with veterans across other teams joining soon for critical position battles.
