Dealing with a Mother-in-Law’s Memory Issues

Dear Carolyn,
My mother-in-law is a kind and gentle person. Recently, she has shown signs of memory problems. Our visits to her are quite infrequent as we live far apart. We manage to see her only once or twice annually.
During our interactions, we have noticed that she forgets certain events. I am uncertain about the best way to handle these situations. Should we bring up the events she forgets, or would it be more considerate to not mention them?
