A Calf’s Journey from Vermont to Maryland Sanctuary

In June 2022, filmmaker Joanna Zelman approached her father with an unusual request. She proposed a trip to a Vermont dairy farm with the goal of rescuing a calf and transporting him to Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary located in Potomac, Maryland. The unique aspect of this journey involved driving the calf in the back of their car.

Mickey and Moose, the calves in question, were moved from Vermont’s dairy environment to the D.C. suburbs, making Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary their new home. This sanctuary provides a safe haven for farm animals, offering a more compassionate lifestyle compared to traditional farming setups.

Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary plays a critical role in extending the lives of animals like Mickey and Moose, who otherwise might face uncertain futures. Sanctuaries like these focus on animal welfare, offering care and protection to creatures typically used in agricultural industries.
