Tragic Fall of New Jersey Tourist at Florida Historic Site
A tragic incident occurred when Victoria Zardoya, a 20-year-old from New Jersey, died while vacationing with friends in Florida. Reports indicate she passed away following a fall at Fort Dade on Egmont Key.
The remote island of Egmont Key, situated at the entrance of Tampa Bay, can only be accessed via boat. It attracts many visitors due to its historical significance and scenic views.
Zardoya was a close friend of Milania Guidice, daughter of Teresa Guidice from ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’. Many, including the Guidice family, have shared tributes to her on social media platforms.
According to E! News, Victoria Silberbusch, a friend of Zardoya, posted a detailed account of the incident online. She recounted how Zardoya fell while the group was exploring the ruins on Egmont Key. Immediate action was taken by those present, with 911 being contacted and flares sent up from boats to attract attention.
Emergency services, including paramedics and a medical evacuation helicopter, responded promptly. Zardoya was airlifted to a nearby hospital; however, she succumbed to her injuries two days later.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office dispatch logs confirmed their response to the incident around 5 p.m. on the day of the fall, with the scene being cleared by 11:16 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office has been asked for more details regarding the incident.
The tragic event has been a somber reminder of the potential dangers even in places of leisure and beauty. The site of Fort Dade remains a popular destination for tourists and boating enthusiasts alike.
