Jared Leto Responds to Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Four women have accused Jared Leto of sexual misconduct, claiming the incidents occurred when they were teenagers. Leto responded on Wednesday, stating, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.” Leto, 54, made this statement to The Associated Press.

A BBC documentary, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, released on Wednesday, explores these allegations. It includes accounts from four women who accuse Leto of sexual misconduct and assault between 2002 and 2016. During this period, they were teenagers and Leto was an adult. One woman claimed she was 17 when sexually assaulted by Leto, while another accused him of statutory rape at the age of 17 as well. A third woman alleged that she was 19 when Leto threatened her with sexual assault. The fourth woman said she was 16 when Leto made sexually explicit phone calls and propositions.

The BBC mentioned that it corroborated the women’s stories; however, The Associated Press could not independently verify them. The documentary does not reveal the women’s full names. The BBC reported that Leto did not respond to its request for comments for the documentary. On Wednesday, The AP asked the BBC for a comment in response to Leto’s denial.

Additionally, nine women accused Leto of misconduct in a report by Air Mail published last year. At that time, a representative for Leto denied these allegations.

Leto, known for his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club, also leads the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. Recently, he starred as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe.
