August marks a significant period for primary elections with over a dozen states participating, following a quieter July. These elections could shape November matchups, influencing control of the Senate and House. With less than 100 days until the general election, both parties are keen to show their strength. Here are ten races to keep an eye on next month:

Michigan Senate

The Michigan Senate Democratic primary is a contest between centrist Rep. Haley Stevens (D) and progressive Abdul El-Sayed. Stevens is supported by figures like Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while El-Sayed has backing from prominent progressives such as Sen. Bernie Sanders. The race is pivotal amidst discussions on Democratic strategy following past losses.

South Carolina Senate

Sen. Darline Graham (R-S.C.), appointed after her brother’s passing, faces a special primary on August 11 for a full term. Despite President Trump’s endorsement, she faces competition from Reps.
