High-Resolution Video Unveils Sun’s Surface Details

Scientists have achieved a milestone with a new video that offers the most detailed look yet at the sun’s surface. The video, published in a study, captures these images at a wavelength of 416 nanometers. This marks the highest resolution of the sun’s surface ever recorded.

The video reveals turbulent structures resembling vortices. These images provide a level of detail comparable to seeing a blueberry from a distance of 70 miles. This achievement gives scientists valuable insights into the dynamics of the sun’s surface.

The video was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the National Science Foundation, National Solar Observatory, the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, and the Max Planck Society (NSF/NSO/AURA/MPS).
