Conor McGregor’s Return and Recovery After Knee Injury

Conor McGregor is making strides in his recovery following an abrupt end to his comeback fight. After a five-year hiatus, McGregor faced Max Holloway on July 11. He started the fight with aggressive tactics, including a running and a head kick. Unfortunately, both attempts led to slips, highlighting a knee injury.

The referee stopped the fight at 69 seconds after McGregor grasped his right leg, confirming a torn ACL.

He mentioned other athletes who have overcome ACL injuries, such as Dominick Cruz, Georges St. Pierre, Tom Brady, and Adrian Peterson, as his motivation during this challenging time.

Following the injury, McGregor vowed to return to the Octagon. He made a second appearance with Max Holloway at UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Reflecting on the incident, McGregor posted on social media about the surprising nature of his injury, stating, Destroyed. I had no injury / injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell.

This was McGregor’s first match since July 2021, where he lost to Dustin Poirier due to a severe leg injury. Since 2020, he has secured only one victory.
