Chris Rabb’s Political Views Spark Debate
Chris Rabb, a Pennsylvania State Representative, questions the notion of “illegal immigrants” and argues that the majority of police work does not involve pursuing criminals. Representing West Oak Lane, Rabb is known for his progressive proposals, such as advocating for the abolition of the death penalty and promoting a shift to 100% renewable energy by 2050. In 2019, he proposed a “carbon pricing” bill aimed at taxing greenhouse gas emissions beyond a certain threshold, with revenues intended to aid low-income consumers and support workers affected by downturns in the fossil fuel industry.

On the topic of law enforcement, Rabb noted that the concept of organized police departments did not exist in early American history and that communities were kept safe by elected constables and civilian watchmen. He observed that Philadelphia didn’t establish a centralized police force until 1854. Rabb’s remarks addressed the idea that 99% of police activities do not involve tracking “bad guys.”
Rabb also shared his perspective on self-defense and disarming police, owing to his family’s Southern roots where they had to rely on self-defense due to local law enforcement’s ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Rabb’s advocacy and unconventional positions led to his electoral victory in the May primary over established Democratic figures such as state Sen. Sharif Street.
