Republican Candidates Address Challenges in South Carolina Senate Race

Nine Republican candidates gathered in Florence County, South Carolina, to vie for the Senate seat once held by Sen. Lindsey Graham. Darline Graham

Darline Graham was the last to speak, emphasizing her desire to earn voters’ trust. She presented herself as a diligent worker with a ‘servant’s heart’ and highlighted her role at the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. She noted shared values with President Trump, such as supporting Israel and implementing voter ID laws. Graham also addressed socialism in the Democratic Party and described Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as radical. On Flock cameras, she expressed the need to investigate privacy concerns further.

Ralph Norman

Rep. Ralph Norman critiqued the Senate’s hurdles, advocating for changes to procedural rules to advance legislation like the SAVE Act. He expressed opposition to excessive AI data center regulation and environmental impacts, despite recent support from Trump for such developments.

Mark McBride

Mark McBride differed from Trump’s stance on Iran, calling for an end to the war. He emphasized the need to admit defeat and retreat to regroup for the future.

Former Gov. Mark Sanford addressed the escalating national debt, stressing its impact on delayed life milestones, like buying a home. He warned that the federal budget’s unsustainable trajectory threatened the American dream.

Mark Lynch

Mark Lynch advocated for eliminating the filibuster and refrained from accepting donations from AIPAC. He strongly opposed abortion, advocating for stricter regulations.

Danny Ford II
