WNBA Rescinds Caitlin Clark’s Eighth Technical Foul

Caitlin Clark faced the prospect of a one-game suspension following her purported eighth technical foul of the season. However, the WNBA promptly intervened.

The league reversed the technical foul assigned to Indiana Fever’s Clark during the team’s victory over the Chicago Sky. This decision eliminated the penalty that would have automatically sidelined her for one game.

Had the technical foul remained, Clark would have missed Tuesday’s game against the New York Liberty. This would have been a significant setback for Indiana as the Fever continue their season.

The WNBA announced the rescindment of the technical foul several hours post-game. During the third quarter, Clark was called for a technical after making contact with a referee while being forced out of bounds. Despite this, the Fever secured a 90-86 win.

Clark immediately argued for the technical to be overturned, stating that the contact was unintentional and not verbally confrontational. Optimistic about the league’s review, Clark expressed hope that the call would be overturned.

Clark remarked, “She said I ran into her. I have already watched it on the tape. So, we’ll let the league decide. But, it wasn’t anything intentional or anything. So, I hope it gets rescinded. And, nothing was said.”
