Ana Maria Markovic, a Croatian soccer player, has shifted her career back to her home country after spending a season with Brooklyn FC in New York. Despite her return to Europe, she holds onto experiences from her time in America. Now part of Hajduk Split, Markovic continues to pursue her soccer career.
Since joining Hajduk Split, which recently won its first Croatian Women’s First Football League championship, Markovic remains focused on returning to her peak condition. She faces challenges after a significant knee injury in March 2023 while playing for Switzerland’s Grasshopper Club. Recovering hasn’t been easy, and she has yet to score a goal post-injury.
Markovic’s reputation as the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Soccer Player’ accompanies her, as does her ability to enjoy life beyond soccer. The team’s victory in the Croatian Women’s League and participation in the UEFA Women’s Champions League showcase her continued involvement in the sport. Despite being eliminated from a qualifying spot in the latter, the team is gearing up for the upcoming league matches.
Markovic remains resilient. Her dedication is evident as she continues contributing to her team. She participated in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 Play-Off in Belfast, displaying her ongoing commitment.
As Hajduk Split prepares for their league schedule, Markovic hopes to score more goals and enjoy personal victories, such as memorable beach days, before the summer ends.
