Efforts to establish a Smithsonian museum on the National Mall have failed following disagreements among lawmakers. Republican leaders included provisions concerning “biological women” and presidential authority over the museum’s location.
The proposal dictated that the museum should be built west of the Smithsonian Castle. However, it also allowed President Donald Trump to select another site.
