Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka exited Wednesday’s practice and did not return. The extent and nature of Egbuka’s injury remain unknown, though he managed to walk off the field with a limp.
“Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned,” NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported from training camp.
“Egbuka, with both cleats off, just walked back to the sideline to watch the rest of practice,” Garafolo added.
Egbuka impressed during his rookie year after being drafted No. 19 overall by the Buccaneers. As a former standout at Ohio State, he quickly became a favored option for quarterback Baker Mayfield, achieving 63 receptions for 938 yards and six touchdowns over a 17-game season.
Following Mike Evans’ departure this offseason, Egbuka is set to take on a more prominent role in 2026.
The Buccaneers will begin their 2026 regular season with a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 13.
