Army Gynecologist Faces Charges for Secretly Recording Patients

An Army gynecologist, Dr. Blaine McGraw, pleaded not guilty to charges of secretly videotaping patients during exams. He faces accusations of indecent visual recording, conduct unbecoming of an officer, willful disobedience of a superior officer, and making a false statement. The Army Office of Special Trial Counsel previously reported 44 victims as of 2025.

McGraw’s patients included hundreds of service members and their spouses. According to NBC News affiliate KCEN in Central Texas, McGraw appeared in front of military judge Colonel Jorge Rivera at Fort Hood’s Lawrence Williams Judicial Center.

Court proceedings revealed McGraw now battles nine charges with 273 specifications concerning 93 alleged victims. The Army states the alleged wrongful acts occurred between 2021 and 2026. This includes 12 charges of sexual assault, 79 attempted sexual assaults, 66 indecent recordings, and 91 assault consummated by a battery.

Charges were filed in December after the Army Criminal Investigation Division began an inquiry in October following a complaint from a patient at Fort Hood, Texas. Most accusations center on medical examinations of female patients at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on the Fort Hood military base.

Blaine McGraw was charged in December. NBC News first reported on the allegations, mentioning an interview with a former patient who sued after discovering McGraw had recorded her exams without consent. She claims there are many more victims and alleges Army leadership ignored complaints for years, accusations which the Army denies. She is married to an active-duty service member and wishes to remain anonymous.

Fort Hood officials immediately suspended McGraw and initiated an investigation after the October complaint. More than 1,400 of McGraw’s patients were identified and informed of the investigation. McGraw also served at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii from June 2019 to June 2023. The Army informed former patients there of the investigation and how to report complaints.
