Florida Man’s Tragic Death in Roadside Altercation

A tragic incident occurred in Florida where a man lost his life after intervening in a roadside dispute. The confrontation followed a car crash involving Raul Lionel Vazquez and a woman. Vazquez is already being held for another ongoing legal matter related to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media that Vazquez, 26, now faces charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 56-year-old Daryl Alexander Hill. Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the scene of the incident at 8:27 a.m. on Tuesday. They found Hill with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, Hill was declared dead at 9:20 a.m.

Hill, remembered for his sense of humor and warmth, leaves behind a wife, Suzy Hill, and a 10-year-old daughter. A friend has organized a GoFundMe page highlighting Hill’s positive impact on those around him.

The altercation began when multiple witnesses observed a dispute between Vazquez and a woman identified as Kaidy Honaker in a Chevy Silverado, which led to a collision with a black Lexus. The couple continued their argument on the sidewalk. Witnesses stated that Hill, who was riding a bicycle, attempted to intervene. This escalated to a physical fight between Vazquez and Hill.

Honaker later joined the fight, supposedly to separate Hill from Vazquez. After Hill began running away and calling for help, Vazquez retrieved a shotgun from his vehicle and shot Hill, according to witness accounts in the affidavit.

Vazquez provided investigators with several versions of events, claiming Hill overpowered him during the fight. At the time of the incident, Vazquez was already out on bond for a prior charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Apopka Police Department, which investigated the earlier charge, did not comment on Vazquez’s bond, as this decision lies with the state attorney. Earlier in 2025, Vazquez faced another arrest related to domestic violence, where he was accused of strangling someone. He pleaded not guilty to these charges as well.
