Tragic Incident at In-Home Daycare Near Minneapolis

A tragic event unfolded at an in-home daycare near Minneapolis on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including a child. The incident, classified by law enforcement as a “domestic-related homicide,” occurred at the Brown Bear Daycare, according to Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson.

Officers responded to the location at approximately 9 a.m. after receiving reports of a domestic situation. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of a man, a woman, and a child inside the residence. Police believe all three victims were from the same family. Fortunately, the six other children present at the daycare at the time were unharmed and have been safely reunited with their families.

Chief Johnson stated that a parent arriving to drop off a child called the police. Investigators suspect this parent may have witnessed part of the incident. “There’s no worse scenario than this,” Johnson remarked, highlighting the heartbreak of parents expecting safety for their children.

“At this time, we believe there are no outstanding suspects and no ongoing threat to the public,” police reassured in a later statement.

Authorities have indicated that the male victim is believed to have been the perpetrator of the incident and took his own life. The police have assured the public that there is no continued threat.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty have both expressed condolences and extended support to the Hopkins community. According to Frey, the City of Minneapolis is ready to offer any necessary assistance.
