Nick Reiner Faces Murder Charges in Alleged Parental Stabbings

Nick Reiner entered a not guilty plea on Wednesday following a grand jury’s indictment accusing him of murdering his parents, actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer-producer Michele Singer Reiner.

The indictment, which was returned on July 20 and unsealed on Wednesday, includes two counts of murder against Reiner, aged 32. It also involves special circumstances, such as allegations of multiple murders and lying in wait. Prosecutors accuse Reiner of personally using a knife during the incident.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated, “This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing.” He further explained that the indictment introduces a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait. “We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case, it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice,” Hochman added.

Prosecutors claim that Reiner fatally stabbed his 78-year-old father and 70-year-old mother on December 14, 2025, at their residence in Brentwood. Authorities apprehended him later that day in Exposition Park.

Currently, Reiner is held without bail and is expected to return to court on September 15. If convicted, he could receive a life sentence without parole or the death penalty. The prosecutors have yet to determine if they will pursue the death penalty.
