New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is under scrutiny to avoid injury by sliding more often when rushing. After enduring significant hits in his rookie season, the pressure is evident. However, some situations are beyond his control, such as the incident during the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
During the first quarter, a Vikings defender bypassed the Giants’ offensive line unchallenged, resulting in Dart being tackled. Dart had to visit the blue medical tent for evaluation but re-entered the game shortly after. This wasn’t a rare occurrence. Last season he frequently found himself on the sidelines.
“Regarding the blue tent, I respect the NFL’s health protocols, but I’m puzzled as it feels like every hit sends me there,”Dart commented.“Still, I’m pleased with how the drive concluded.”
Head coach John Harbaugh shared his thoughts on Dart’s removal from the game.
“Honestly, it surprised me. Their priority is player safety, and I can’t fault them for that,”Harbaugh said.
Despite the setbacks, Dart managed to throw a touchdown pass in the second quarter. The Vikings ultimately triumphed 13-10. The larger concern for Giants fans remains Dart’s decision-making on the field, particularly when confronted with aggressive defenders.
In this particular instance, Dart had limited options. Vikings safety Jay Ward executed an efficient tackle, leaving Dart with minimal time to react. With the preseason ongoing, the Giants aim to rectify these vulnerabilities before the regular season begins.
The team still needs to address several areas, including identifying defensive blitzes, to compete effectively in the upcoming season.
