Abdul El-Sayed Faces Criticism for Remarks on Circumcision and Child Sex Changes
Abdul El-Sayed, the Michigan Democratic Senate nominee, has received criticism from a wide political spectrum. The criticism arises from his comments on circumcision during a Monday appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime.
During the interview, Jesse Watters asked, “So you think it’s okay for a parent to slash his kid’s ding-a-ling off?” In response, El-Sayed countered with, “Are you circumcised?” This exchange sparked a debate, with Watters stating, “Circumcision’s different than castration.” El-Sayed argued that circumcision involves surgical decisions made by parents, doctors, and patients, saying, “Yes, circumcision is surgery on a kid’s ding-a-ling.”
Some on the left also criticized El-Sayed. Ryan Grim, a co-founder of the left-wing outlet DropSite News, criticized the comparison. Andrew Laufer, a civil rights attorney, surprisingly agreed with Watters. Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet highlighted the false equivalence. Benny Johnson, a conservative pundit, and OutKick founder Clay Travis also expressed their disapproval.
There were also attempts at humor. Chuck Ross, a Washington Free Beacon reporter, joked about El-Sayed’s “pole numbers.” However, others had serious critiques. A senior policy director from Do No Harm emphasized the incomparability of sex-change surgeries to circumcision. Melissa Chen, a Singaporean journalist, commented on El-Sayed’s inability to answer questions about gender-affirming care for minors.
Circumcision is elective and typically performed on infants. Concerns about consent, medical necessity, and associated risks have been discussed. Fox News Digital reached out to the El-Sayed campaign for comment, but there was no response.
