The U.S. State Department has revised its travel advisory for Israel, now allowing family members of U.S. government employees to travel to the country. This update comes amidst renewed concerns over terrorism and regional unrest.
The advisory, renewed as Level 3 on August 26, suggests Americans reconsider travel due to security issues. Despite the permission for family members to join U.S. government employees in Israel, certain areas in the country remain risky due to regional instability.
The advisory specifies that U.S. government employees in Israel face restrictions from entering areas north of Route 85 to Route 90 (south) to Route 87. Additionally, they are prohibited from being within seven miles of the Gaza Strip and 1.5 miles from the Israel-Egypt border, except near the Taba border crossing.
For any official travel within these restricted areas, U.S. government personnel need approval from the U.S. embassy’s security office.
This situation is evolving, with further updates anticipated.
