All-time great NFL pass rusher Aaron Donald is making a comeback to the league by joining the Los Angeles Rams. He signed a one-year deal worth $20 million with the team on Sunday. This move reunites Donald with his former franchise, a squad already well-positioned for a strong season.
The Rams were already seen as a leading contender for the Super Bowl title. With Donald back on the field, their chances appear even stronger. However, this addition brings heightened expectations for the team.
During Monday morning’s episode of First Take on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith stated that for the Rams, it is Super Bowl or bust. “The only possible excuse for the Rams not making the Super Bowl is health,” he said. “Injuries, obviously, are part of the NFL. They could derail everything. If they’re healthy, there’s no reason the Los Angeles Rams shouldn’t be walking away with the Super Bowl championship.”
Alongside Donald, the Rams boast strong players; they have the reigning NFL MVP, Matthew Stafford, and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
Los Angeles will start its regular-season schedule with a Week 1 game against the San Francisco 49ers on September 10.
