Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star suffered damage recently, showing multiple scratches. This incident occurred shortly after the country music legend’s passing. The vandalism was reported by a fan visiting the star, who posted a photo on social media showing the scratches.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, confirmed the report in a statement. “A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches. From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches,” Martinez stated.
Flowers placed at Parton’s star were removed as part of a scheduled repair arranged prior to the incident. “The crew just completed the first part of making said repairs,” Martinez said. The repair work is overseen by the Hollywood Historic Trust, responsible for maintaining the Walk of Fame stars.
The star is slated for repair and polishing by Friday, allowing fans to pay their respects to the late singer once again. This vandalism closely follows Parton’s passing at age 80.
Parton passed away peacefully on August 25 in Nashville, Tennessee, following a brief struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, as confirmed by her team.
Lainey Mae Parton, the singer’s niece, expressed her emotions on social media after the burial, describing Parton as a beacon of love and encouragement. In an Instagram tribute, Lainey Mae shared, “From the time I was little, my granny always had a way of making me feel like I was enough. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself.”
Lainey Mae also highlighted Parton’s support for her educational choices, “She financially supported me through school and helped me get my career started. She didn’t just tell me to chase my dreams, she helped me get there.”
Parton’s legacy spans decades, with hits like “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5,” along with movies such as “Steel Magnolias” and “Joyful Noise.” Her philanthropy is also significant, marked by her Imagination Library project.
Lainey Mae reflected on her grandmother’s absence, sharing, “It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone. I’m going to miss her voice, her laugh, and even those 4 AM calls.” Parton was laid to rest on August 28.
Parton’s influence extended beyond music and acting, as she played a crucial role in charitable efforts, distributing millions of books through her Imagination Library.
“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to call her my granny,” Lainey Mae concluded, expressing gratitude for Parton’s unwavering support and love.
