Trump’s Campaign Pledge
President Donald Trump committed to campaigning for 35 Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections. Speaking at a White House dinner, Trump stated, “I’m going to take the final 30 days, and maybe a little bit more than that, because it’s all about 35 races.” His promise includes visiting each of the 35 locations to support Republican candidates.
Key Campaign Destinations
Trump highlighted some races he plans to attend, such as supporting Sen. Dan Sullivan in Alaska. During his announcement, Trump humorously referenced Sullivan’s opponent, another Dan Sullivan, who is a retired teacher.
In addition, Trump plans to travel to Texas to lend his support to State Attorney General Ken Paxton, competing against Democrat James Talarico for a Senate seat.
Focus on Competitive Races
Several Republicans faced competitive races during the Rose Garden event at the White House. Representatives Derrick Van Orden from Wisconsin, Tom Barrett from Michigan, and Mike Collins from Georgia were present. Trump emphasized his intent to support candidates in challenging contests, stating, “If you’re leading by 40 points and you’ve been there for 25 years, please don’t ask me to come to your area and make a speech.”
Trump’s Election Perspective
Despite not being directly impacted by the election, Trump reiterated his willingness to aid his party. “I’m not affected by the election,” he elaborated in the Oval Office. “No. 1, I’m not running. My party’s running, and I’m going to help my party.”
Previously, Trump urged supporters to “pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot” during the midterms.
Financial Support and Strategy
Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., possesses a substantial campaign fund exceeding $400 million, as seen in recent finance reports. Republican candidates in competitive races anticipate that some of this funding will be directed towards supporting their campaigns.
