AI Companies Face Outages Impacting Thousands of Users

OpenAI, Anthropic PBC, and SpaceXAI experienced outages on Thursday. User reports and company status pages highlighted these disruptions, affecting customers of leading US AI model developers.

Tens of thousands faced service issues with OpenAI, as reported on Downdetector, an outage monitoring service. OpenAI stated it is investigating increased error rates with its ChatGPT chatbot and Codex AI coding tool.

Anthropic claimed recovery for several models after errors occurred but continues ongoing work to resolve issues with its Opus 4.8 and Opus 5 services.

SpaceXAI’s chatbot, Grok, also coped with outages. The company confirmed this on its status page, ensuring users they are addressing the situation.
