As the midterm elections approach, President Donald Trump has amassed a substantial $400 million in campaign funds, based on filings from the Federal Election Commission. Fellow Republicans are eager to see how he plans to allocate this money, especially with ads already being aired.
This week, the nonprofit Securing American Greatness, connected to Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., launched its first nationwide ad. The ad prominently features Trump himself, rather than congressional candidates. Despite this, the president assures that money will soon support the party’s candidates.
At a rally for Senator Darline Graham, Trump encouraged his supporters to act as if he were on the ballot, emphasizing the importance of participation. He promises substantial spending on candidates deemed worthy, pledging a mix of raised and personal funds.
The notable expenditure by MAGA Inc., a $827,000 donation, went to Graham’s campaign. Prior to this, MAGA Inc.’s contributions were modest, only totaling $18,000 this year. In contrast, the super PAC raised $401 million by the second quarter’s conclusion.
Trump hosted Republican lawmakers for an end-of-summer barbecue at the White House. Next week, the GOP plans a presidential-style midterm convention in Dallas, featuring speeches and party highlights, though some candidates in tight races won’t attend. For instance, Florida Republican Rep. Maria Salazar remains focused on her Miami campaign.
Vice President JD Vance reiterates that personal voter engagement in districts is key over participation in national events. His sentiment underscores the importance of direct voter interaction.
