9-Year-Old Boy Shoots 13-Year-Old on South Side

A 9-year-old boy shot and critically wounded a 13-year-old boy on the South Side of the city on Friday afternoon. The incident took place inside a home on the 5200 block of South Wells Street, in the Fuller Park neighborhood.
The 9-year-old, who was inside the residence with a firearm, fired a single shot, striking the 13-year-old just after 4 p.m., according to the Chicago police.
The wounded 13-year-old was taken to UChicago Medicine. He is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.
Police recovered one handgun from the scene. Area detectives are investigating the incident.
