Cody Rhodes Reflects on the Passing of Andy Williams, Also Known as The Butcher

Professional wrestler Cody Rhodes expressed his sorrow following the death of fellow wrestler Andy Williams. Known in the wrestling world as The Butcher, Williams passed away over the weekend at the age of 48 after collapsing post-match at Enjoy Wrestling in Pennsylvania.

Williams was renowned not only in wrestling but also as the guitarist for the band Every Time I Die. He began his wrestling training in the early 2010s, debuting in 2015. Teaming with Pepper Parks, known as Blade, the duo became The Butcher and The Blade, popular figures in promotions like All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Ring of Honor (ROH), and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

Cody Rhodes played a pivotal role in The Butcher’s AEW debut. This memorable occasion included The Butcher, The Blade, and Bunny emerging from beneath the ring to confront Rhodes. Reflecting on the debut, Rhodes described recruiting the team as a fun experience.

“When I was away from WWE, we had recruited them for a debut. He came up under the ring, and they beat me up. I didn’t spend enough time with him as a person, but the stories about his warmth and charisma are true. He was intelligent and cultured, beyond the tattoos and muscles,” Rhodes remarked.

Rhodes expressed regret at not having spent more time with Williams but valued the moment they shared. Williams was not only a gifted wrestler but also a unique personality who left a strong impression in multiple locker rooms.

The wrestling community collectively mourned Williams’ untimely passing. His contributions to wrestling and music continue to resonate with fans and colleagues, with many recalling positive memories and stories of their encounters with him.
