The New York Yankees are welcoming back Aaron Judge, their captain and key player. Judge has been activated from the 60-day injured list in time for the Yankees’ series against the Colorado Rockies at Yankee Stadium. He had been sidelined for three months due to a stress fracture in his right first rib, which occurred in late May.
Recently, Judge was seen participating in workouts at Yankee Stadium. He took live batting practice and appeared ready for big league action. The Yankees decided against a minor-league rehab assignment for Judge. Manager Aaron Boone mentioned creative strategies to help build Judge’s stamina for the postseason. This might include playing games with the Yankees but not completing full nine innings.
Since being cleared for baseball activities, Judge has progressed from hitting off a tee to taking real batting practice. He also practiced with the team during their West Coast trip, including high-velocity pitching machine sessions, outfield drills, and baserunning exercises to prepare for his return to right field.
Judge’s absence affected the Yankees’ offensive performance. His season stats before the injury were .248/.375/.533 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. Despite this, New York maintained a 45-38 record while Judge was out. With the Yankees four games behind the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays and holding the top Wild Card slot, Judge’s return is timely as they aim for a strong postseason position.
The Boston Red Sox are trailing closely behind the Yankees. As Judge integrates back into the lineup, the Yankees hope to combine their strong pitching with improved batting.
